It has been announced that Skrillex has won an award at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards for "Top EDM Album". The 2013 Billboard Music Awards marked the first year that “EDM” had a presence in the categories.
Skrillex won the "Top EDM Album" for his Bangarang EP.

Daft Punk have recently said that they want someone to "prove them wrong". They state that music will lose its power if nobody questions their influence to dance music. Thomas Bangalter, one half of Daft Punk, goes on to praise Skrillex saying that:
“Skrillex we have a lot of respect for. He's said that he saw our show with the pyramid in 2007 and it makes him want to make music, but it feels like he's not copying our formula.”
"He might be the kid that breaks the cycle, but we don't listen to a lot of electronic music. We never did.''

Skrillex was recently on "The Big Live Show" during YouTube's Comedy Week. At first, YouTube channel 'Epic Rap Battles' performed their 'Epic Rap Battles of History' rap of "Skrillex VS Mozart" and half way through, Skrillex appeared and started rapping with the other 'Sonny'.
He then later had a short appearance as he played a song while Hannibal Burress rapped over it.
